Slings & Things: HANDSTOPS

HANDSTOPS

This isn't the longest segment in the book, but it ended up being way more than I first thought, and that's why it ended up with its own separate section in Slings & Things.

One of the reasons it grew is that there are a lot of different ideas, and designs, on the market now. Some have changed radically over the past few years. Some design changes actually relate to shooting position mechanics, and, therefore, the talk gets a little deeper than saying "it's a thing that stops your hand..." So I didn't say that. What I did say involved choosing the right stop, knowing the technical specifications needed for your rifle, and then learning how to adjust the stop for position and orientation.

This gadget goes along the underside of a Match Rifle forend. It's way on more important than most ever imagine to shop for the right one to fit your shooting mechanics. After you find it, you'll be surprised at how much more effective the sling-supported positions become. Even glove choice influences what works best.

Simple cylinders that aren't really so simple to choose... Zoot-capri Euro-stops, and why such things exist.
Handstops that cost more than a weekend of indulgence, and when it might actually be worth the money. The handstop... Handstop and rail specifications, plus sling swivel options and choosing the right one for your sling and handstop.
Learn to make it work.
