This isn't the longest segment in the book, but it ended up being way more than I first thought, and that's why it ended up with its own separate section in Slings & Things.
One of the reasons it grew is that there are a lot of different ideas, and designs, on the market now. Some have changed radically over the past few years. Some design changes actually relate to shooting position mechanics, and, therefore, the talk gets a little deeper than saying "it's a thing that stops your hand..." So I didn't say that. What I did say involved choosing the right stop, knowing the technical specifications needed for your rifle, and then learning how to adjust the stop for position and orientation.
